Personal Info-
I have lived
and grown with horses since childhood. For the past 7 years I have focused
on horse health and hoof care in particular. I learned a lot and was motivated
in this pursuit when my own horse, Kiy, went through 3 years of awful
founder .
As a result of this experience and many others along the way, I now feel
my purpose is to prevent and try to heal un-neccessary lameness in our
horse friends.
Currently
I am growing my own hoof care business in the Comox Valley and surrounding
area.
I continue to learn and see the great benefit of a natural lifestyle.
Bare foot hoof care is new yet it is using information that has always
been there like any nature based healing.
I believe in treating horses with loving kindness, understanding and respect
for who they individually are.
Experience-
I completed
a long-term apprenticeship with Frances Guthrie who is a well-known and
experienced natural hoof care professional. She saw great potential in
me and has encouraged me to begin my own hoof care practice. I continue
to go to her for guidance. She knows me well and would be happy to provide
a reference upon request.
I attained further hands on experience while working at Miellie Meadows,
a breeding/rehabilitation farm in Aggassiz B.C.
Miel Bernstein, the owner and manager of this farm and business, gave
me guidance on trimming techniques as well as the opportunity to work
independently. During this time I trimmed the hooves of pregnant mares,
foals, yearlings, stallions, show horses, and many others. I gained experience
trimming horses who were undergoing rehabilitation from founder and navicular
issues.

I hold a certificate in Natural Nutritional Consulting. This background
in holistic health care provides me with knowledge and insights that frequently
influence my approach to equine health.
